To be an educated Chicana is monumental.

It denies the odds stacked against us.

It can mean everything to our parents, our abuelitos, and our familias.

It is truly rewarding, meaningful, and inspiring.

As much as it is an honor, it is also extremely overwhelming.

Either our family applies the pressure or our society, or we do it to ourselves.

Or all of the above.

There is a lot to carry on our shoulders.

To make everyone proud, including yourself.

Being an educated Chicana is monumental.

It is beautiful, historic, and significant.

Now, it is up to us to make it worthwhile.
