Who is Your hero, Who is Your lifeguard, Who is Your fighter, Who is Your protector?
And possibly who is the one you most fear when you know you did something wrong.
After hearing all these questions
If you are like me
We both have the same person in mind,
Our mothers
She may have never finished High school
Or even learned any other language besides spanish
She may have had dreams bigger than me
And even gone across mountains when she needed to go to school
She may have never had a father figure growing up
Or even food to eat some nights
She had to work as a child
And has had it hard since a young age
Yet
She is the strongest woman in my life
She has taught me right from wrong,
She has taught me about our tradition
She has taught me all the prayers I know
She has kept my family strong
She has volunteered at school
And fought for my education
She has protected me against bullies
And has always believed in me
She has taught me how to make the foods her mother taught her
She has taught me the importance of what I eat
And has even taught me how to flip a tortilla
She blames everything bad on my phone
But always helps me when I feel bad
She has given me vaporub when i'm sick
and savila when I got burned or even bruised
She has never read me a bedtime story but always make sure i am asleep
and fine
She has kept from eating to make sure I eat
She has given me money for a bag of chips
even if it left her without a dime
She has sacrificed her old life to make mine better
And yet sometimes I wonder when was the last time I have really thanked
her
I than realize I never thanked her all those times
So even when your mother has done nothing for you or even has gotten you mad
Please remember she has done so much for you even if you don't remember those specific times
Thank you MOM
