Marta López-Garza (Professor) holds a joint position in Gender & Women’s Studies and Chicana/o Studies Departments at California State University, Northridge. López-Garza is a community-based researcher, working primarily with formerly incarcerated women. She co-facilitated CSUN’s formerly incarcerated student organization, Revolutionary Scholars, is co-founder of Civil Discourse & Social Change (a campus-wide initiative combining education with sustained activism) and remains on the Board of Directors of A New Way of Life Reentry Project, a South Los Angeles-based organization that provides housing, legal services, advocacy and leadership development for women rebuilding their lives after prison.
